It is purple blue in ethanol, soluble in ethylene glycol ether, slightly soluble in acetone and insoluble in other solvents with chemical book machine. It is dark green light blue in concentrated sulfuric acid, and becomes dark green light blue to grayish purple after dilution; Orange brown in concentrated nitric acid.
